Random Quote You get your intuition back when you make space for it, when you stop the chattering of the rational mind. The rational mind doesn't nourish you. You assume that it gives you the truth, because the rational mind is the golden calf that this culture worships, but this is not true. -- Anne Lamott

I happen to be up late working on a database to help a friend out. WWL, channel 4 in New Orleans, is live-streaming their feed and I have it playing in the background. Hopefully, Katrina dies down from its current state. The mayor didn't seem to do much to get people out of the city, which is incredible to me. Lots of questions about the Superdome's stability through this, and there are reportedly about 26,000 people there taking shelter. That's mind-boggling. The guy currently on TV says that he has a buddy who is staying behind to keep an eye on his pets. Geez-oh-pete. The storm remains at 160 MPH. The scenarios have been painted in the past. We'll see how it goes... |

Living in Florida as long as I did, it doesn't surprise me how laissez-faire people can be regarding hurricanes. I was watching the news tonight and there are 6 holes in the superdome and those people inside are getting nice and drenched. Many have resorted to hiding under the stadium seats to stay dry...very sad. Also, on a trip to New Orleans once, I toured the cemetaries. As many of you may know, the dead are buried above ground because of the fact that N.O. is below sea level. I remember the tour guide telling us there would be some HUGE problems if major flooding came to pass. I don't even want to think about that! |
