Random Quote You expect far too much of a first sentence. Think of it as analogous to a good country breakfast: what we want is something simple, but nourishing to the imagination. Hold the philosophy, hold the adjectives, just give us a plain subject and verb and perhaps a wholesome, nonfattening adverb or two. -- Larry McMurtry

I read that Atlanta might elect a new mayor who describes herself as a "'purple' fiscal conservative." I like that description. That describes me pretty well. I strongly support gay marriage, I am devoutly capitalist, I believe in individual freedom and limited government, and I'm definitely a fiscal conservative. "Purple fiscal conservative" - that'll work. |

Purple, I really like that. Conservatives need to rally around those core principles of fiscal responsibility, limited government, and individual freedom. From there you can branch out and expand the "tent" the GOP likes to refer to. |

Yeah - the problem with the Republican wing is that a few Christians don't believe in individual freedom. They want to shove Christianity down our throats. Anyone who wants to use the government to coerce my behavior is a statist. Sadly, they don't see it that way. But if they spend more than two seconds thinking it through, it's not tough to grasp. |
