I can't explain why, but doing this pen-and-ink thing with the watercolor is deeply satisfying. And I'm not even particularly proud of the results, but just doing it feels good. It's almost like I don't care about how it looks. It's fun just to grab an image and paint without worrying about how accurate it is and then throw color at it. ![](gallery/sketchbook/20060715_ny_bbq.jpg) The faces too. They have a lot to do with this. |
